Mrs. Harris Receives HaywoodEMC Bright Ideas Grant

Mrs. Zonya Harris, Senior School Science Teacher, recently accepted a check from Mr. Ken Thomas of Haywood EMC in the amount of $1,994.44.

Haywood EMC, one of 27 cooperatives in North Carolina who sponsor Bright Ideas, Bright Ideas Grantawarded Mrs. Harris this grant for her "New Crops for a New Carolina:  Exploring Viable Cash Crops" project submission.

Bright Ideas is a program offered by Haywood EMC that strives to improve education in North Carolina classrooms by awarding grants to teachers for innovative, classroom-based projects in grades K-12 that would not otherwise be funded.  Since the program's inception, the program has awarded more than $4.5 million in grant money to North Carolina's teachers, sponsoring 4,000 projects and reaching more than 800,000 students.

 We are extremely proud of Mrs. Harris for her accomplishment in this endeavour.
